CENTRE STAGE

THE SNOW QUEEN

For Christmas 1998 the company toured a new adaptation by Roma Tomelty of Hans Anderson's 'THE SNOW QUEEN', with music by American composer Russ Mason. This Christmas tour was the 11th year of presenting children's plays with traditional family values to venues across the Province, offering seasonal entertainment to those not in a position to travel to the Big City Pantomimes.

The Snow Queen is one of the most traditional of fairy tales, and its showing of her battling against all odds to free him from the grip of the Snow Queen gives a wonderful sense of the power of love.

There is now scarcely any part of Ulster that our Christmas shows have not visited This year as well as travelling as far afield as Derry, we took the show for a whole week to an exciting new venue at the Golden Thread Theatre in the Brookfield Mill complex on Belfast's Crumlin Road, as well as revisiting many old haunts and several new ones, and we must have entertained and enthralled well over 6000 children during this time.
